Tavern Tale – a new book inspired by RPGs

It’s release day! Tavern Tale is my new book from Space Wizard Science Fantasy. Inspired by my love of RPGs, and doing the side quests before the main quest, I created this fantasy romance.

Within the book, a TTRPG scene is featured in the Sultry Sapphire, the tavern of Tavern Tale. The characters play Crossroads George, a game like Settlers of Catan meets Triple Triad from Final Fantasy. The cards feature action and resource cards and the deities from the world like the Goddess of Harvest, and the edges have elements and numbers that ad complexity to the game and enhance the experience. Certain terrains impact the value of the cards but you can always use your imagination to use the cards creatively.

There are many other Easter Eggs of video games and RPGs – see how many you can find when you read Tavern Tale!

If you haven’t yet, add it to your Goodreads! Or request it at your library!

About Tavern Tale

What if the side quest is really the main quest?

Divine, a healer of the Goddess of Souls, has chased the thief who stole her talisman across half of Trelvania. The talisman is the key to accessing her magic well, and without it, she is powerless. While chasing her betrayer, former girlfriend, and servant of the Goddess of Condemnation, Divine meets Saph, a flirty tavern owner with an eyepatch and a proposition. Saph will help Divine locate her talisman if Divine helps her complete a mysterious quest in a chest.

Inspired by games like Skyrim, Final Fantasy, DND, and Dragon Age and set in scenic autumn, prepare for an adventure with gods and goddesses, deceitful exes, axe throwing, and fantastical creatures. Can Divine learn to trust again and find romance in the middle of finding her magic?

A cozy fantasy Al Hess calls “Your next comfy read after Legends & Lattes.”

Diane Billas said she “swooned over the chemistry between the main character Divine and her love interest Saph.”
